Vetting America Episode 32 — Dr. Diego Hernandez, Psy.D — In this episode, Dr. Diego Hernandez, Psy.D, sits down to discuss the Psychology behind the Military Transition.
Doc Diego dives deep into the neuroscience behind thoughts and memories while sharing cutting edge therapies like Accelerated Resolution (ART) Therapy and Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) Protocol which are showing promise in the movement to heal the invisible wounds many Veterans face post-Military Service.
Currently Director of ART Therapy and Military Research at the University of South Florida, Doc Diego is on the frontlines of change within the Military mental health community. He notes that it is imperative for a Military Veteran to learn how to tell their story, post-service, so that they can properly heal, let go, and move on from what they may have experienced during their time in.
The organization that he is a part of, A Heroes Journey, is designed to help Veterans tell their story and transform their lives. It’s run by former Green Beret Lt. Col. Scott Mann who served 27 years in the United States Army.
